Just sweet potatoes. Also I was out of ginger so I sprinkled on some powdered ginger instead and mixed it in with the grated sp. I know that sounds really pathetic but that's what I did! It worked pretty well and was pretty close to the original plaintain recipe, the trick is to keep the oil hot enough so that they crisp up quickly and don't get sticky.
